Inmigrantes latinoamericanos en España (original title)

[01/01/2008] [Spain] [Academic paper/Research] [Spanish]

Posted by : Country Coordinator Spain

Authors : Laura Tedesco - Universidad Autónoma de Madrid

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the integration process and the situation of Latin American immigrants in Spain in 2007. First, it analyzes the causes leading to the leaving of immigrants, with brief comments on the recent political and economic crises in Latin America and the reasons that impel them to choose Spain as their new home. The second part presents a demographic analysis of Latin American immigrants in Spain. Remittances, its recent growth and impact on the Latin American economies, are the object of study of the third section of this chapter. Finally, the role of Latin-American in the Spanish civil society through their associations and their economic entrepreneurship occupies the analysis of the fourth section. The conclusions of the chapter are presented in the fifth section.
