Similarily to what happened in previous years, the 6th edition of the intercultural festival The World Here (O Mundo Aqui) is being organized by the association of immigrants in the archipelago of the Azores – AIPA. The event will take place between 28th and 1st December 2013 in the Arts Academy and Conservatory of Ponta Delgada (island of São Miguel) and the music and the food from all over the world will be the main elements of this festival that celebrates cultural diversity as an essential axis for collective development.

On the 29th of November the performers are: the Bossa Quintet, a group form Terceira island (Azores archipelago) composed by Brazilian and Azorian musicians and the Cape Verdean group Cordas do Sol (Sun Cords). On the 30th November, the group Throes + The Shine will Play electric rock and will be followed by the Guinean (from Guinea-Bissau) musician Mayo Coopé. On the 1 of December, the rap group B-Unit, composed by young Cape Verdean descents residing in Terceira island, will be the main attraction. The Azorian-born musician Rafael Carvalho will close the festival with his tradition Azorian guitar.

In terms of gastronomy, the festival will have food from Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau and México prepared by immigrants residing in the archipelago.

There wiil also be parallel activities to celebrate cultural diversity such as hairdresser workshops, presentation of the multicultural magazine Living Here, photo exhibition from Saint Tomé and Prince and the workshop (De)constructing Borders.

The festival tickets can either be bought in AIPA or in the Arts Academy.

The event is sponsored and funded by the Regional Government of the Azores, the High Commissioner for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue (ACIDI, I.P.), the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals (FEINTP) and a group of regional partners (flying company SATA, the Holy House of Mercy of Velas, the municipality of Ponta Delgada, Atlântida radio station, newspapers Açoriano Oriental and Terra Nostra, just to name a few).
