The city of Utrecht is holding its annual local human rights meeting on Friday 20 September 2013. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navanethem Pillay, called Utrecht the first human rights city of Netherlands during the opening of the Board for the Protection of Human Rights. In response, several organizations have expressed their wish to form a human rights coalition with Utrecht.

This idea is discussed further during the meeting 'Human Rights in Utrecht Ripe for a coalition?' At the end of the evening, the Mayor of Utrecht, Aleid Wolfsen, will provide his reaction to this idea and possible plans. Laurien Koster, Head of the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights will also contribute to this local network and partnership.
