The American Professor Peggy Levitt will deliver a talk on transnational migration and social protection ("A New Social Contract? Transnational Migration and Social Protection") on the 22nd of April at the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning (Instituto de Geografia e Ordenamento do Território) of the University of Lisbon. The event is open to all who would like to see Professor Levitt.
Peggy Levitt is a Professor of Sociology at Wellesley College and a Research Fellow at The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and The Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations at Harvard University, where she co-directs The Transnational Studies Initiative.
The event is a joint initiative of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Lisbon with the Centre of Migration and Intercultural Relations Studies (CEMRI - Centro de Estudos das Migrações e das Relações Interculturais) of the Open University, in partnership with the Sociology Research and Studies Centre of the Lisbon University Institute (CIES - IUL), the Research Centre of Economic Sociology and of the Organizations of the Technical University of Lisbon(SOCIUS - ISEG/UTL) and the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
