Official Launch of the NGO Programme – Bulgaria under the EEA Financial Mechanism

On 22 November 2012, the Fund Operator Open Society Institute - Sofia in partnership with the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation organizes the official launch and a press conference on the NGO Programme in Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the EEA. The launch will take place from 9:00 a.m. in Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan and has as its main goal to present before potential beneficiaries the objectives and the priorities of the NGO programme in Bulgaria, as well as the mechanisms for submission, evaluation and selection of projects.
Interested participants are requested to fill in a registration form, available here. The deadline for registration is 12 November, 2012.
The working languages of the event will be Bulgarian and English.
Worth € 11.8 million provided by the donor states Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, the NGO Programme will provide flexible and accessible funding to eligible NGOs, with the aim to foster an enabling environment for the sector, strengthen its capacity and enhance its contribution to social justice, democracy and sustainable development.
Open Society Institute - Sofia in partnership with the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation will organise three open calls for proposals for eligible NGOs in the following four thematic areas: Democracy, Human Rights and Good Governance; Social Inclusion and Empowerment of Vulnerable Groups; Sustainable Development and Protection of the Environment; Capacity Building for NGOs. The first open call for proposals is expected to be launched in January 2013.
The NGO Programme shall contribute to the overall objectives of the EEA Financial Mechanism to reduce economic and social disparities and to strengthen bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the donor states Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
