The Choices Programme (PE) was created in January 2001 and is a government program of national scope, sheltered by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and integrated in the High Commission for Immigration and Intercultural Dialog, I.P., and aims to promote the social inclusion of children and young people from more vulnerable socio-economic contexts, particularly of the descendants of immigrants and ethnic minorities, with a view to equal opportunities and the enhancement of social cohesion.
Eleven years after its creation, the Choices Program is nationally and internationally recognized as one of the more efficient and effective public policies in promoting the social inclusion of children and youth at risk.
This book puts in writing the whole practice of social intervention throughout those 11 years, sharing with every one what was being built and perfected throughout the four generations of Choices Programme.
