One Europe - Multimedia series

Multimedia series about successful cases of ethnical minority youngsters who are integrating and succeeding in the inter-cultural cosmopolitan milieu of the European Union.

We are looking for partners (foundations, production companies, platforms, etc.) and for funding.

One Europe is a frank, candid and real-life character-based multimedia series that explores the universe of young ethnically diverse Europeans: how do they cope with the dichotomy between their old traditions and the desire to join modernity; how do they deal both with the rejection of their own communities and prejudice of others, which often leaves them in a nowhere land; how they are progressively managing to integrate and succeed; how they are building a future and forging a more diverse Europe. Each film in the One Europe series will focus on the trajectory of one compelling real-life character. Initially we envisage five programmes: one Roma (“gypsy”), one of North African origin, one from the Indian sub-continent, one Middle Eastern and one from Asian ascendancy. Bearing different origins and cultures, they all have in common a progressive assimilation into European culture, which rather than being a static entity becomes a plasma being moulded by the infusion of these different cultural paradigms. In so doing, One Europe becomes a thought-provoking series that is bound to generate healthy debate and to bring to a wider audience a fresh perspective on the integration of minorities. By focusing on young Europeans, it points out to the future, and how it is being forged daily through the synergy between old cultural traditions and new lifestyles and attitudes towards life. And, last but not least, One Europe is a vibrant testimony on the ongoing shift from multiculturalism to an inter-cultural society, where cultures not only live side by side, but also progressively interact more and bring forth the dawn of a truly cosmopolitan era.
