Abstract (EN)

Musqueba is a movement for women with the goal of promoting the education and valorisation / enhancement of African women in the context where they live with the goal of improving their contribution in the fight for peace and social justice. Therefore, the team has been trying to focus its efforts in the organization and education of the African Diaspora in Portugal simultaneously supporting the economic and farming development of Guinea-Bissau.

Angelegenheit/Herausforderung und
Ziele/Annahmen

The first hypothesis is based on the idea that if the African Diaspora around the world and the African citizens living in Africa increase their level of trust, the investment potential of the Diaspora will be better used by the African citizens, showing an increase in the quality of life for both groups. The second hypothesis is that women want to reinforce their social and political participation associated to organizations that favour their participation in a more engaged and responsible way.

Wie funktioniert das?

The project set up diverse activities which allow women, men and the public sector to participate and contribute to female emancipation both in Portugal and in Guinea-Bissau. In Portugal, the project has activities such as debates on femal genital mutilation, changing traditions harmful to feminine emancipation, production of knowledge in the scope of feminine emancipation and the forum of African women in the Diaspora. In Guinea-Bissau, the activities include the empowerment of informal groups of women traders, compilation of laws on agriculture in Guinea-Bissau, agricultural school, the development of social networks, workshops on the constraints on trading agricultural goods, trade laws and access to funding, workshops on the law of free circulation of people and goods, lobbying and advocacy.

Ergebnisse

One active network of Guinean women from the Diaspora was established, a network of African women in the Diaspora and a network of young girls in Guinea-Bissau were set up. Moreover, an elementary school in the Guinean region of Sancava is functioning. A total of 450 women, 400 men and 21 organizations were involved in the actions developed.
