On the 26th February there will be a series of conferences on the topic of “hate speech and the limits to freedom of speech”. Organized by the Consolider Project and the Constitutionalists Association of Spain, in collaboration with the Spanish Ombudsman’s Department of Democracy and Human Rights and the University of Alcalá. At 9.45 am there will be the inauguration by the Ombudsman Soledad Becerril Bustamante. At 10 the first session with Santiago Muñoz Machado talking about “freedom of speech, online uses and diffusion of the hate speech” and Tomás Vives Antón on “Freedom of speech and the vindication of terrorism” followed by a colloquium at 11.45. At 12.15 in the second session Fernando Rey Martínez will talk on “Freedom of speech and racist discourse”, and Víctor Vázquez Alonso on “freedom of speech, blasphemy and the prompting of religious hate” followed by a colloquium at 13.30. The third sessions starts at 17h with Rafael Bustos Gisbert on “freedom of speech and the denialist speech” and Miguel Revenga Sánchez on “tolerant, intransigent, and militant democracy” followed by the third and last colloquium.
The event will be broadcast live via the website of the Foundation, and its recording will be integrated into the video archive.
