The full title of the debate is The Right to Family Life vs. Immigration Control: Current Trends in Family Reunification in the Czech Republic in the Context of the European Union.
The first part of the debate will focus on the current Europe-wide debate of the EU Family Reunification Directive and the overall setting of conditions for family reunion for migrants from third countries. What is the position of the Czech Republic in this debate and what is the opinion of Czech NGOs? What direction takes the new draft legislation recently put forward by the Ministry of Interior?
In the second part, the speakers will discuss the current practice of family reunification in the Czech Republic. To what extend does the state policy interfere with the family life of migrants? How important is role of public interest in revealing fake marriages? What do migrant think about the conditions for family reunion?
