The Czech Parliament is currently discussing a new law on Czech citizenship. The new law will considerably influence the situation of immigrants permanently living in the Czech Republic. The objective of the round table was to support public discussion on granting Czech citizenship and point out some of the problematic aspects of the proposed legislation (e.g. compulsory DNA testing for children of unmarried migrant-citizen couples).
The round table, directed at a professional public, was attended by the Parliament reporter of the proposed legislation Jeroným Tejc, representatives from the Ombudsman Office, Government Office, Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and representatives of NGOs working with migrants.
