Back Social media: security concerns of sharing information

1 in 4 EU citizens aged between 16 and 74 claimed to have avoided providing personal information to social or professional networking services in 2019 due to security concerns.

Across the EU Member States, the highest share of people who avoided providing personal information to social or professional networking services was recorded in France (40%), followed closely by the Netherlands (39%), Finland (37%) and Slovakia and Sweden (each 36%).

By contrast, a smaller share of the population had refrained from providing such information in Lithuania (6%), Bulgaria and Hungary (both 8%), Croatia and Romania (both 9%).
