The United Nations' sustainable development goal (SDG) 8 recognises the importance of sustained economic growth and high levels of economic productivity for the creation of well-paid quality jobs and the achievement of global prosperity. It draws particular attention to creating opportunities for young people who are not in education, employment and training in order to prevent any future loss of skills and job discouragement.

Monitoring SDG 8 in an EU context focuses on progress made in fostering sustainable economic growth, in increasing employment and in providing decent work opportunities.

How is your country doing in this regard?

Find out with our easy and user-friendly graph below. Compare your country’s progress over time and with other Member States. Choose from a range of indicators, such as the employment or long-term unemployment rates. Or see the share of the population who are inactive due to caring responsibilities, or how many young people are neither in employment nor in education and training.
