Eurostat has published a new section on its website dedicated to skills related statistics.
This section contains information about the measurement of skills and its four different dimensions: skills supply, skills demand, skills development and skills mismatch. Furthermore, the section provides statistics related to skills coming from multiple data sources.
At the same time, Eurostat has released new experimental statistics on 'skills mismatch'. More information about this can be found in the experimental statistics section under the page dedicated to skills.
In a fast-changing knowledge-based economy, skills are a pathway to employability and so, among the policy priorities of the European Commission. The skills available in the labour market should match the needs of businesses and the economy. The data on skills which are now available in the new dedicated section, support the policy goals presented in 'A New Skills Agenda for Europe'.
