Starting 1999, Eurostat publishes government net lending (+)/net borrowing (-) and government debt figures that EU Member States notify to the European Commission (Eurostat) by end-March and end-September of each year. The News Releases also present government revenue and expenditure (as they reported in the ESA Transmission Programme Table 2).
Starting February 2012, Eurostat publishes a news release with quarterly data on government debt providing information on short term trends in government debt for the euro area, the EU and the individual Member States. This news release is regularly published every quarter towards the end of the months of January, April, July and October.
Starting February 2014, Eurostat publishes a news release on seasonally and calendar adjusted quarterly data on net lending (+)/net borrowing (-). This news release is regularly published every quarter towards the end of the months of January, April, July and October.
In February 2015, Eurostat also published a news release on contingent liabilities and non-performing loans in EU Member States.
