In Bulgaria, it is important to continue the tradition of sustaining the dialogue between users and producers of statistics on all levels. Therefore, a special event marks the European Statistics Day.
The National Statistical Institute, the Ministry of agriculture and D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics - Svishtov, Bulgaria, have come together to organize a national scientific-practical conference ‘Statistics as a Science and Practice - Traditions and Contemporary Dimensions’, dedicated to European Statistics Day and 80 years of training in Statistics in the Academy to be held on October 20, 2017.
The conference will bring together producers and users of statistics to discuss new aspects in field of production and dissemination of statistical information as a Big Data, etc.

National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria takes part in the European Statistics Olympics, registration for the competition starts on the European Statistics Day.
The NSI will publish link to the digital publication ‘The life of women and men in Europe’ a few days before the European Statistics Day together with Eurostat and the other EU Member States.
The National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria hosts the second study visit within the twinning project ‘Support to the State Statistical Committee in Harmonisation of the National Statistical System of the Republic of Azerbaijan in line with EU standards’.
The aim of the current study visit is Azerbaijani colleagues to get acquainted with Bulgarian and German experience and good practices in management of twinning projects.
The National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria published its newest report ‘Cities and their urbanised areas in the Republic of Bulgaria’, available in Bulgarian and English. Prepared with the financial support of European Commission, it provides reliable and internationally comparable information on cities and their functional urbanised areas.
Data collected on the demographic, social, economic, ecologic and cultural development of cities and their urbanised areas support the elaboration of regional and urban development plans seeking for prosperity and sustainable development. The publication contains maps, tables, graphs as well as information on land use and land cover in the areas observed.
This publication addresses government and local authorities, business, policy makers, researchers, lecturers, students, experts and citizens who are interested in the social-economic and spatial development and planning of regions in the Republic of Bulgaria.
