Estimations methods used in the UOE questionnaires
Type of data Detailed variables concerned ISCED level Reference year(s) Data source (internal to UOE or not) Data type (sample-based or not) Data source name in English Reason Description of the estimation method
Foreign language learning Number of students by foreign language studied ISCED 1  All years internal to UOE population-based Elevregistret (Students Register) No individual data on language taught the reference year Obligatory language by grade from grade 1-6
Foreign language learning Number of students by foreign language studied ISCED 2   external to UOE population-based Elevregistret (Students Register), Grade register No individual data on language taught the reference year Languages taught in grade 7-9 is estimated based on this years final grades in grade 9, assuming that the distribution (languages and number of languages) is representative for all enrolled in grade 7-9.
Foreign language learning Number of students by foreign language studied ISCED 3, general   external to UOE population-based Elevregistret (Students Register), Grade register No individual data on language taught the reference year Estimation of languages and number of language taught this year is based on this years graduates final grades indicating duration/level of languages taught, assuming that the graduating students are representative for the whole population of enrolled. Calculated separately for each upper secondary program.
Foreign language learning Number of students by foreign language studied ISCED 3, vocational   external to UOE population-based Elevregistret (Students Register), VET-Grade register No individual data on language taught the reference year Estimation of languages and number of language taught this year is based on this years grades within the whole student population.
Personnel  Number of teachers  ISCED 1 and 2    internal to UOE  population-based  Elevregistret (Students Register)  Data is only available aggregated  We cannot see whether the teacher is teaching on ISCED 1 or 2, so we use the weight of students to estimate the distribution.
Finance All ISCED1 and 2 and ISCED 5 and 678   internal to UOE population-based Elevregistret (Students Register) Data is only available aggregated. Especially for ISCED 1 and 2.
Finance data cannot be split between ISCED 1 and 2, and ISCED 5 cannot be split from ISCED 678. In these situations the number of students is used as a base for estimations of cost by ISCED level. For some sources of data the split between these ISCED-levels is applicable.
3.6. Adjustment

Not applicable.

4. Quality management Top
4.1. Quality assurance

In the production of the UOE-statistics there are built-in several quality controls that prevent logical errors.
