Permanent officials and Temporary agents

Eurostat is mainly looking for the following job profiles: statistical officer, economist and IT manager (AD career), assistant in statistics, economics, statistical database domain manager, IT assistant and secretary (AST career).

The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) regularly organises open competitions and selection procedures in different domains such as economics, statistics, IT for the recruitment of officials and temporary agents. Also jobs in various administrative / horizontal activities at the EU Institutions are filled via the competitions. The names of successful candidates are included in reserve lists. CVs of laureates are in a database managed by EPSO.

Contract Agent staff

Contract Agents (CA) are devided into four Function Groups (FG) according to the types of duty performed and covering specific job requirements. Jobs are available in Eurostat for a wide range of activities, requiring different levels of qualifications, mainly for the following profiles: statistical officer (CA FG IV), statistical assistant or database manager (CA FG III and FG II) and secretaries (CA FG II).

Contract Agent staff are selected through a selection procedure organised by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) after a call for interest. CVs of laureates of contract staff selections are in a database managed by EPSO.

Traineeships

Bluebook traineeships

Twice a year, the European Commission offers five-month traineeships to university graduates from EU Member States and from non-EU countries.

Eurostat offers traineeships mainly in the fields of statistics, economics, and IT. They start their traineeship on 1 March and 1 October every year.

Unpaid traineeships

Students pursuing or coming to the end of the studies may be offered an unpaid traineeship at the European Commission.

Eurostat regularly offers, within the limit of available positions, the possibility of traineeships in the fields of statistics, economics, IT or secretarial work. The duration of a traineeship is from a minimum of one month to a maximum of six months. Candidates must:

  • be at least 18 AND
  • have a secondary school leaving certificate e.g. the baccalaureate (or Superior/Technical studies equivalent to this level) AND
  • have to complete a traineeship within the framework of their studies ( 1st cycle University or equivalent) (for example: LST, DUT, DEUG, Licence, Bachelor....) AND
  • have the nationality of one of the Member States of the European Union.

Seconded National Experts (SNE)

Eurostat is looking for seconded National Experts at AD level mainly with a statistical profile.

Seconded national experts are national or international civil servants who are working temporarily for the Commission under the rules applicable to such experts (Commission Decision C(2008)6866/3 of 12/11/2008). Information about current opportunities are published on the current webpage and can generally also be obtained from the offices of the Permanent Representations of the Member States to the EU in Brussels.

Current Vacancy in Unit B1

Eurostat Unit B1 "Methodology and Corporate Architecture" is a dynamic and friendly unit with 20 colleagues providing Eurostat and the European Statistical System (ESS) with service, guidance and expertise in the areas of statistical methodology and research, confidentiality, standardisation, enterprise architecture and modernisation. Its aim is to foster the quality of European statistics and corresponding production processes, to maximise the use of data collected and to improve efficiency through interoperability, integration and standardisation of ESS processes. The offered post contributes to the modernisation of Eurostat and the ESS notably through support to the ESS Vision 2020 implementation and ESS standardisation.
