Job opportunities with Development and Cooperation - EuropeAid
Development and Cooperation - EuropeAid offers job opportunities at its Brussels' headquarters, as well as in EU delegations based around the world. EPSO is the single point of contact for all EU citizens who wish to work for the European Institutions.
Permanent officials are selected by open competitions organised by the European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO). Open competitions are published in the Official Journal and announced on the EPSO website.
There are two types of contract agents:
- Contract agents on a contract of limited duration (up to a maximum of three years) work at Commission headquarters.
- Contract agents on longer-term contracts can work in satellite offices, agencies and eventually in EU delegations.
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) organises calls for expression of interest. Candidates must pass a test to be considered for recruitment.
In exceptional circumstances, EuropeAid may consider engaging temporary agents.
EU Delegations make extensive use of local agents who are generally employed on an indefinite basis, even though the contractual conditions differ from those of officials. Vacancies for local agents in Delegations are generally published in the most popular newspapers in the country of interest.
The European Commission has an official traineeship scheme mainly aimed at young university graduates. For further information, please consult the traineeship web pages:
Seconded national experts (SNE)
SNEs are typically seconded from the civil services of EU Member States. They are usually recruited via their Permanent Representations to the EU.
