Egypt: 200 MW Wind Farm project in the Gulf of El Zayt
The project is part of a national programme supporting the governmental objective of expanding electricity production from renewable energy sources. The construction of this wind farm will contribute to this goal by producing environmentally sound energy.Lead IFI: KfW
Other FI: AFD & EIB
Total cost:€340M
NIF grant:€10M
Other EU grant:€20M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Improved Water and Wastewater Services Programme (IWSP)
The project aims at improving water and wastewater services in four Governorates in the Nile Delta with a population of 16,3 million. It will improve the infrastructure of the wastewater collection system and treatment as well as the water supply networks.Lead IFI: KfW
Other FI: AFD & EIB
Total cost:€295M
NIF grant:€5M
Other EU grant:€29M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Combined Renewable Energy Masterplan
The study aims at developing a Renewable Energy Framework (REF) for wind and solar power generation in Egypt serving as the basis for future investments contributing to the goal of global climate change protection. The Master Plan will also include a Feasibility Study for a Concentrated Power Plant (CSP).Lead IFI: KfW
Other FI: EIB,AFD
Total cost: tbd
NIF grant:€3M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Power Transmission project
The project concerns a multi-component investment programme in the Egyptian 220-500 kV transmission network. The investment will contribute to provide a reliable electricity supply for the increasing local demand, connecting new wind energy generation facilities to the grid as well as enabling future regional interconnections.Lead IFI: EIB
Other FI: KfW,AFD
Total cost:€762M
NIF grant:€20M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Improved Water and Wastewater Services Programme in Upper Egypt (IWSP II)
The project concerns a multi-component investment programme in the Egyptian 220-500 kV transmission network. The investment will contribute to provide a reliable electricity supply for the increasing local demand, connecting new wind energy generation facilities to the grid as well as enabling future regional interconnections.Lead IFI: KfW
Other FI: EIB,AFD
Total cost: €300M
NIF grant:€13M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Technical Assistance for the Implementation of a 20 MW Photovoltaic Grid Connected Power Plant Project in Egypt
The project will contribute to global climate protection by producing environmentally sound electrical energy and avoiding the generation of CO2 with a reasonable economic cost. This pilot project will also give Egypt the opportunity to become a first player in the photovoltaic technology in the MENA region.Lead IFI: AFD
Total cost: ca.€100M
NIF grant: €0.8M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Alexandria Public Transport
The study will determine the feasibility of a public transport project in Alexandria. Such project will contribute to sustainable urban development of Alexandria as well as to climate change mitigation, with the aim to reduce travel time, air and noise pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in the second largest city of Egypt.

Lead IFI: AFD
Other IFI: EIB
Total cost: tbd
NIF grant: €0.5M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Cairo Metro Line 3 Phase 3
The constructions of line 3 phase 3 of the Cairo Metro aims at improving the transport conditions of Cairo’s inhabitants. This 17.7 km phase will extend line 3 to the west and complement the existing network of lines 1 and 2, which are already in operation. This is a key component of the Greater Cairo transport master plan as it will unlock two densely populated districts (Imbaba and Boulak El Dakrour), benefiting the socially disadvantaged population and providing safe and reliable access to the city centre and the central business districts. Ultimately, with phase 4, this line will offer a direct access to Cairo International Airport cutting travel time by threefold and will reduce congestion, greenhouse gas emissions, and noise pollution on this major East- West road corridor.Lead IFI: AFD
Other IF: EIB
Total cost: € 2,075M
NIF grant: €40M
Status: disbursing

Egypt: Integrated and Sustainable Housing and Community Development Programme
This housing and community development programme covers urban areas in Egypt, in particular Greater Cairo. It can be broadly split into two programmes – the EIB/ NIF financed Community Development Programme (CDP) and the AFD/NIF financed Unplanned Areas and Slums Upgrading Programme.

Lead IFI: EIB/AFD
Total cost: € 175 M
NIF grant: €30M
Status: approved
