Results and Statistics
As conclusion of the activities of an of project ALFA II good practices and results was held in Mexico City, May 2007, the Conference " Good Practice and Results of ALFA Projects". The main conclusions and recommendations are included in the Final Report of the event.[3 MB]
Equally in the follow-up of this study a Compedium on-line of projects ALFA II was created being accessible for consultation.

AMEPAR [1007 KB] "Approaches to Material Selection through Environmental Performances and Adoptions of Proper Recycling Procedures" (ref: II-0269-FA) aimed to conceive advanced training programmes for investigation of new solutions in eco-design, clean production and recycling of materials respecting environmental quality regulations.
DESIR [6 MB] "Desarrollo – Ingeniería – Recursos: Master: Aprovechamiento sostenible de los recursos minerales" (ref: II-0459-FA). Mineral resources which are fundamental in the Latin American economy have been in a developmental decline. Desir tries to get to the grass-root of the problem by means of cooperation, professional training and promotion of the ecological responsibility, as well as the study of problems on-the-spot, including those related to informal mining, in order to obtain sustainable solutions.
EVALU [93 KB] "Definición y evaluación de curricula de ingeniería para el uso de las tecnologías de la información" (ref: II-0204-A) has enhanced the use of an automatic evaluation platform (TOL = Test On Line) throughout all the participating universities. The aim was to define a standardized form of auto-evaluation (initially for physics) to be used as a model by the universities.
HIFIELD [2 MB] "Measurement methods involving high magnet fields for advanced and novel materials" (ref: II-0147-FI) aims to conceive training programmes for the construction and installation of high inducer systems, including tuition modules of high tension measurements as well as the means of developing measurement methods to identify magnetic materials.
LEAL [40 KB] "Learning Automation and Laboratories" (ref: II-0341-A) and REXNET [40 KB] 'Remote Experimentation Network' (ref: II-0465-A) organised jointly two workshops “Laboratorios Virtuales" and "Experimentación Remota” in order to exchange experiences in the field of supporting higher educational institutions to develop processes of remote experimentation and to create virtual laboratories. Hereby are included the main jointly conclusions and recommendations of both projects.
KICKSTART [6 MB] “Key Initiatives for Commercialising Knowledge” (ref: II-0409-A) aims to put in place a network as well as to prepare and stimulate technologies' transfer between Europe and Latin America.”
PETRA [221 KB] "PiezoElectric TRansducers and their Applications" (ref: II-0343-FA-FCD-FI) aims to create a training profile for multidisciplinary research given the fact that the application and exact use of piezoelectric transducers in areas as diverse as engineering, biology, chemistry and bio-engineering requires a multidisciplinary profile.
PIHE [2 MB] "EULAC: Partnerships for Internationalisation of Higher Education" (ref: II-0479-A) aims to identify the rationales and approaches that have led to internationalisation of the higher education institutions in both regions and their implications in the institutional strategies and financing. To reach this objective, the network suggests different analysis' levels and methodologies, and an analytic and theoretical specific framework.
The SAPUVETNET [374 KB] (ref: II-0438-A) project aims to promote new approaches in the field of education on animal production and veterinary public health (AP/VPH) with the complementary development of training modules in co-related matters (for example sprouting of illnesses, risk analysis/communication, certification, industrial and commercial problems, animal welfare, preparation' ability to the urgency).
The SELF-RULE [63 KB] (ref: II-0468-FA-FCD-FI) overall mission is to foster cooperation, integration, innovation and exchange of foresight experiences between Latin America and Europe. In doing so, the network aims to promote a joint and self-sustained long-term cooperation agenda through academic research, training and mobility programmes. The primary objectives of the network are:
To build sustainable foresight capacities in Europe and Latin America; To exchange foresight knowledge, tools and experiences and articulate academic institutions with other stakeholders of the innovation systems at regional level.
SUTTI [3 MB] "Sustainable Tourism Training and Internship Enhancing Collaboration between Europe Latin and America" (ref: II-0430-FC) make a exploratory study to identify 'best practices' designed to increase the scientific knowledge transfer between the academic Communities in the field of the sustainable tourist management in Latin America. The knowledge and skills provided through the project and the consolidated exchange of academic students of tourist management will lead to the improvement of the local economies and living conditions of local Communities.
T-GAME L3 [4 MB] "Teaching Computer Graphics and Multimedia" (ref: II-0384-A) aims to conceive continuous training programmes in the area of digital graphics as a part of the "university extension services management" using information and communication technologies and educational methodologies related to semi-assisted and non-assisted tuitions.
TUNING [4 MB] (ref: II-0529-A) “tunes” the educational structures of Latin America initiating a debate to improve the collaboration between the local higher education institutions in order to develop quality systems by promoting innovation, effectiveness as well as transparency of the higher educational systems and recognition of careers and competencies.
