Aide extérieure et Amérique latine
La Commission apporte son soutien aux pays de l'Amérique latine par l'intermédiaire de l'Instrument de financement de la coopération au développement (ICD), entré en vigueur en janvier 2007.
Les principales priorités en matière de coopération avec la région sont la stimulation de la cohésion sociale et la consolidation de l'intégration régionale.
La coopération au développement avec l'Amérique latine est organisée:
- avec les pays, par des accords de coopération bilatéraux;
- avec les sous-régions, à savoir l'Amérique centrale, la Communauté andine et le Mercosur;
- avec la région dans son ensemble par des programmes régionaux.

EU-Peru Programme for alternative development in Pozuzo-Palcazú area (PRODAPP)
Through promotion of legal economic activities and improvement of social services and infrastructure, this programme aims to reduce the local population's dependence on coca cultivation and improve livelihoods. -
Sustainable management of the Tawahka Asangni and Southern Río Platano natural reserves in Honduras
The conservation and sustainable management of forests that form part of the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor by strengthening indigenous and ladino community development and lobbying the state for an effective application of forestry legislation. -
Agricultural rehabilitation in provinces most affected by hurricanes Ike and Paloma in Cuba
The project aims to support post-hurricane rehabilitation in Cuba, specifically by helping to recover the essential productive capacities in agriculture in the worst-affected provinces of Cuba. -
Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation through Payments for Environmental Services, Conservation and Forest Management
Conservation of Ambor National Park, the Cruce Valleys and the El Chore Forest Reserve through the development of pro-poor payments for environmental services that make sustainable forest management economically and institutionally attractive -
Support for Regional Integration Ecuador - Peru / Road Axis Nº1
This bi-national project contemplates new infrastructure in the border region as an alternate route for road traffic, as well as an integrated customs infrastructure. It is also prepared to prevent damages from El Niño-Southern Oscillation.
