EU development funding for Venezuela aims mainly to fight poverty.
EU Aid programmes
In 2002-2006, the European Commission provided funds for:
- disaster prevention and reconstruction (78%)
- fisheries (22%)

In 2007-2013, the EC foresees to provide €40M in funding for:
- modernising and decentralising the state (50%)
- fair and sustainable economic growth and diversified production (50%)

The EC also finances action in Venezuela on human rights, health, and decentralised cooperation, and co-finances projects with NGOs.
