EU development funding for Honduras aims mainly to promote social cohesion in the context of regional integration.
EU Aid programmes
In 2002-2006, the European Commission provided funds for:
- sustainable management of natural resources (45%)
- local development and decentralisation (26%)
- education (21%)

In 2007-2013, the EC foresees to provide €223M in funding for:
- social cohesion (50%)
- management of forestry resources (30%)
- improving the legal system and public safety (20%)
The EU also finances action in Honduras on food security.
