EU development funding for Brazil aims mainly to promote political dialogue and knowledge exchange with the EU.
EU Aid programmes
In 2002-2006, the European Commission provided funds for:
- economic reform (47%)
- reforming public administration and human rights (21%)
- social development (23%)
- environment (9%)

In 2007-2013, the European Commission foresees to provide €61M in funding for:
- EU-Brazil relations (70%)
- environmental aspects of sustainable development (30%)

The EC also finances action in Brazil on human rights, the environment, decentralised cooperation, and co-finances projects with NGOs.
