Andean Community
EU development funding for the Andean Community began in the 1970's, mainly to support regional integration.
EU Aid programmes
In 2002-06, the European Commission provided funds for:
- disaster prevention (17.2%)
- standardising statistical systems (31.5%)
- technical assistance for trade (27%)
- involving civil society in the integration process (16.3%)
- preventing synthetic drug abuse (8%)
In 2007-13, the EC foresees to provide €50M in funding for:
- regional economic integration (40%)
- social and economic cohesion (40%)
- drug control (20%)
