Support for the Gulf region
The Commission provides support to Iran, Iraq and Yemen through the new Development Co-operation Instrument (DCI), which came into force in January 2007.
Commission support is tailored to reflect the political, economic and social circumstances of each country, as well as the state of their relations with the European Union. Co-operative activities cover a broad range of issues including human rights, good governance, capacity building and economic development.

Address Mixed Migration in the Gulf of Aden
Year by year, a massive influx of highly vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers arrive along the Yemeni coast. In this project, the Yemeni Authorities and Civil Society will receive support to respond to migrant's needs and assure maritime security. -
Work Programme to improve job opportunities and food security in Yemen
The project contributes to reducing the impact of high food prices by expanding the workfare programme implemented by the Yemenite Social Fund for Development, which allocates 70% of the budget to salaries. -
Supporting Yemen's accession to the World Trade Organisation
The project aims at building capacity to bring technical regulations and standards into compliance with the WTO Agreement on technical barriers to trade, thereby facilitating Yemen's accession into the World Trade Organisation. -
SHARAKA YEMEN - Partnerships for Human Rights
10 Yemeni NGOs implement small projects with a focus on women and children's rights in different areas of the country, while the project also aims to build capacities at Ministry of Human Rights to monitor, promote and protect human rights in Yemen. -
Responding to migrants' needs and ensuring maritime security in Yemen
Every year a massive influx of highly vulnerable migrants and asylum seekers arrive along the Yemeni coast. In this project, the Yemeni authorities and civil society receive support to respond to migrants' needs and ensure maritime security.
