Where we work
Depuis 1990, le financement de la Commission destiné aux pays ACP est en hausse régulière chaque année et l'aide consacrée au commerce n'a jamais été aussi importante qu'aujourd'hui. Depuis 2001, la Commission a dépensé plus de 850 millions d'euros pour aider les pays ACP à stimuler leur commerce et à s'intégrer à l'économie mondiale.

Des restaurants pour bébés à Madagascar
Le programme a mis au point une méthodologie de lutte contre la malnutrition à partir d'un réseau de restaurants pour bébés et de la fabrication locale d'un aliment de complément. -
Giving land access to rural communities in Angola
The Land Law of 2004 allows rural communities to entitle for land rights but this aspect of the law is not yet operational. This project supported the implementation of the land law in order to give a secure land access to rural communities. -
Supporting rural poor communities in Mozambique against the effect of soaring food prices
In order to buffer against the effects of soaring food prices, the EU supports FAO in improving the food security and livelihood situation of rural poor agricultural families in Mozambique. -
Improving transport infrastucture in Ghana
This project aims at providing a sound planning framework for the transport sector, informing the sector’s service, meeting the country's needs in economic development, regional integration and social cohesion. -
Increasing transparency and efficiency in Liberian public finances
The project improves the accountability and effectiveness in the management of the public finances in Liberia. It also supports the General Audit Commission to ensure sustainable human resources management systems for the future. -

Construction of Sidjou - Idjikoundzi road
The construction of the road from Sidjou to Idjkoundzi provides access to five villages in the region, allowing local people access to urban markets to sell their produce and providing secure access to basic services such as hospitals and schools. -

Income Generating Public Works Programme (IGPWP) in Malawi
The Income Generating Public Works Programme promotes productive and income-generating activities for the rural poor in Malawi. Village forestry clubs, directed primarily by women, belong to the main beneficiaries of the programme. -

Support to Vulnerable Farming Households Affected by Increasing Food and Commodity Prices in Lesotho
In order to mitigate the impact of soaring food and agricultural input prices, the EU provided €4 million through FAO in Lesotho to support vulnerable, food insecure farming households. 36 300 households received quality agricultural supplies. -
Nkundabana Initiative for Psychosocial Support (NIPS)
Child-headed households in Rwanda are supported via a community-care network whereby volunteers serve as mentors to orphan children. This scheme has empowered many children and volunteers do carry on the mentor work even after the end of the project. -
Fighting HIV transmission in Burkina Faso
The project focuses on the fight against HIV transmission especially in young women and female sex workers. The creation of mobile testing centres has succeeded in increasing education, access to testing and raising awareness among the target groups. -
Ndomo: L'école d'initiation et l'histoire d'un succès
Le programme Ndomo soutient les artistes et acteurs en renforçant leurs compétences techniques. Des cours de formation sur la peinture ont conduit à la création d'associations féminines qui travaillent ensemble. Le revenu de chaque membre de la «Ndomo" provient du compte collectif. -
Access to sustainable water and sanitation services, hygiene promotion and capacity building in water and sanitation & water resources management programme, Same District, Tanzania
The EU water facility project aims to tackle poverty by improving access to sustainable water and sanitation services. Tanzania which suffered from a drought in 2005 is one of the countries to benefit from this water resources management programme. -
Improving water facilities in Uganda
In 2001 the EU supported the renovation of Mubende's (Uganda) water supply system dating from 1925. The increased, easier and affordable access to safe water contributed to reducing poverty levels and improving the quality of life in the area. -
8th EDF Micro Projects Programme (MPP)
The Micro Projects Programme in Uganda has achieved improved access to healthcare, primary education and water-sanitation facilities in poor rural areas. This community-led project has generated many employment opportunities and boosted rural economy -

Zimbabwe is one of the countries most severely affected by HIV/AIDS. Reducing the prevalence and harmful effects of HIV/AIDS and improving access to vulnerable rural populations is the focus of this project. -

In a context of alarming deterioration of the environment, Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles decided to set up a pilot project providing regional support for the promotion of an education for the management of the environment. -

From the 640.000 people infected with AIDS in all these three countries, only less than 11.000 can have access to treatment. This project has improved access to health services and helped to increase awareness of patient's rights. -
Employment Intensive Programme in Support of Mogadishu
Promotion of community based employment projects is the only way to re-integrate crisis-affected groups and give them a sense of belonging. So far, 1 700 people (70% women) from the poorer sections of society have been recruited via the ILO programme
