Since 1990, Commission funding for ACP countries has risen steadily each year in real terms – and now it is spending more than ever before on aid for trade. Since 2001, more than €850 million of Commission funds have been used to help ACP regions to boost trade and integrate into the world economy.

Mid-western Towns Water and Sanitation Project
In 2001 the EU supported the renovation of Mubende's (Uganda) water supply system dating from 1925. The increased, easier and affordable access to safe water contributed to reducing poverty levels and improving the quality of life in the area.

9th February 2010. The European Commission presented the the second ACP-EU Water Facility, replenished with € 200 million under the 10th European Development Fund for the period 2009-2013.

Commission approves € 230 million to cushion the impact of the economic crisis in 13 African and Caribbean countries
The European Commission approved the first financing decisions in favour of eleven African and two Caribbean countries for a total of € 230 million, including € 215 million under the so-called Vulnerability FLEX mechanism (V-FLEX). This is the first package of financing decisions in the framework of the € 500 million V-FLEX mechanism which was adopted in August 2009 as a response to the economic crisis for African, Caribbean and Pacific Countries (ACP).
