Screening Calendar - Stories on Human Rights [224 KB]
With the aim to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the European Commission and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights have entrusted ART for The World to produce a movie composed by a series of short films directed by filmmakers and video artists to convey the timeless significance of human rights and their underlying values. The project is financed under the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights.
More than 20 well-known filmmakers and video artists from all over the world have been contacted and - as a source of inspiration and orientation - were provided with one cross-cutting theme of the Declaration: Culture, Development, Dignity and Justice, Environment, Gender and Participation.
Conference "The Defenders take the floor"
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of human rights, the European Union and the United Nations join forces to give the Floor to human rights defenders in a conference called “The Defenders Take the Floor” on 7 and 8 October at the European Parliament in Brussels. www.DefendersTakeTheFloor.org
