In June 2012, the EU Delegation in Namibia, in partnership with the Namibian Parliament and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) launched a Parliamentary Support Programme (PSP). The programme seeks to strengthen the National Assembly and the National Council to exercise their Constitutional oversight mandate and promote greater engagement by Parliament in the implementation of poverty reduction programmes.
The programme is organising trainings, workshops and seminars, to improve the skills and expertise of Parliamentarians and their staff.
An updated comprehensive database on legislation has been made available online and the development budget has been digitized.
Interaction and participation of civil society in the work of Parliamentary standing committees has increased.
