Earth Observation (EO) technologies and applications are recognized as powerful tools which provide reliable information to help us better understand our planet and sustainably manage the environment we live in.

In the past 15 years, the capacity of  African countries for exploiting space-based EO data has been strengthened, and developed operational services have been established in areas such as agriculture, water management, fisheries, forestry and climate change.

This conference will present the services currently enabled thanks to the Monitoring of Environment and Security in Africa (MESA), a project which builds on the achievements of previous programmes, and will explain the benefits from the perspective of the African policy institutions.
