British Antarctic Territory

Located in Antarctic south, the British Antarctic Territory is the United Kingdom’s largest overseas territory covering around 1,700,000 sq km, but has no permanent population.

The territory is self-financing; generating revenue primarily from the sale of stamps and coins and income tax from British Antarctic survey scientists, among others. This is mostly reinvested in projects which support the British Antarctic Territory strategy – focusing on protecting the environment, education and conserving British heritage.
