Funding opportunities
Guide for Europe/USA Opportunities in Research and Career Development
National funding programs open to European researchers in the USA have been compiled into a Funding Guide for European Researchers in the USA, updated annually, and which is available for download here. This is the first edition of the EURAXESS Links USA Funding Guide Booklet.
This booklet is intended to be used as a stand alone document to introduce the various schemes that exist to support mobility, research collaboration, research exchange and relations between Europe and USA, enabling researchers to scan the range of schemes and quickly be able to grasp the key essentials of each programme.
In this booklet, we aim to provide comprehensive information that will be of interest to:
- Researchers wishing to travel to the USA from Europe,
- Researchers wishing to return to or visit Europe from the USA,
- Researchers looking to locate funding opportunities in the USA,
- Researchers seeking to collaborate with partners either in Europe or in the USA.
The information contained in the booklet is mainly targeted at those in graduate school or who are working as a researcher, at postdoctoral or senior levels. The information should also be of interest to those in universities or research institutions responsible for international relations or careers.
In addition to the European Commission Marie Curie grants, the document also lists national, European and USA funding schemes, and those offered by other foundations or research bodies.
New national funding schemes regularly come on board that will not be included in this booklet, but will be listed on the right hand side of this page, under individual countries. The best way to stay informed about all new funding developments is through joining the EURAXESS Links USA network, visiting the EURAXESS Links USA website which features regularly updated information about funding opportunities and the latest calls, as well as through registering for the EURAXESS Links USA Newsletter, distributed each month. You are welcome and encouraged to sign up for this newsletter at our homepage (http://ec.europa.eu/euraxess/links/usa/index_en.htm) or by emailing us (euraxesslinks.usa@euraxess.net) directly.

New FP7 Calls Targeting Research Cooperation Between EU and U.S.
The new Work Programs for 2012 of the 7th Framework Program (FP7) were published on 20 July 2011. With the key objective of strengthening competitiveness, this year’s calls make available nearly 7 billion Euro for joint research projects covering a vast range of scientific disciplines, public policy areas and commercial sectors. This funding shall contribute to advance scientific boundaries, increase European competitiveness and help solve global societal challenges such as climate change, energy and food security, health and an ageing population.
The Seventh EU Framework Program is open to organizations from outside Europe, and this year’s calls for proposals have a particular focus on stimulating cooperation with the U.S. Currently open FP7 calls (filtered by research themes) specifically targeting research cooperation between EU and the U.S. can be found here: http://www.euussciencetechnology.eu/uploads/docs/InternationalCooperationBetweenEU&USA_2012_BILAT-USA.pdf
