Assistant professorship in educational sociology
The Department of Education at Aarhus University invites applications for an assistant professorship in educational sociology.
The assistant professorship is a three-year, fixed-term appointment.
We are looking for applicants who 1) have a strong academic background in micro-sociology and aspects of research into everyday life, 2) can contribute to the empirically anchored development of research into educational sociology in this connection, and 3) will be able to teach and supervise in the area of educational sociology at Master’s level.
The position includes:
- Research into everyday life, gender and identity in a historical sociological perspective
- Research into the relations between education, culture and materiality
- Research with a point of departure in culture-sociological, text-analytical and source-critical methods
The position involves teaching and supervision as well as tasks related to the academic and educational development of the Master’s degree programme in educational sociology. The position may also include teaching and supervision on other relevant Master’s and Bachelor’s degree programmes affiliated with the Department of Education.
The position also involves supervision and study facilitation in connection with Master’s theses and the degree programme’s placement module. Applicants are expected to be competent IT users who can also handle media and blog tools.
Applicants are expected to be interested in and preferably to have experience of knowledge exchange with society in relation to the research area, with a view to ensuring that the knowledge possessed by the university benefits society directly in the form of services provided for the authorities, research reports for other stakeholders in society, and the communication of research results.
Applicants must possess:
- Research qualifications equivalent to the PhD level in a subject related to this position’s field of research
- Teaching qualifications that are relevant for teaching and supervision in the degree programmes mentioned above
