An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PhD studentship in Prof. Dr. Natasa Przulj's group. The purpose of the project is to develop and apply sophisticated graph theoretic algorithms and models, carefully tuned to extract knowledge from topologies of real-world biological and economic networks.
The successful candidate will design and implement models and algorithms, apply them to real-world network data, statistically analyse the results, write papers, present work at international conferences, and contribute to updating our open source software package, GraphCrunch, with the new methods. He/she will have a good Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Bioinformatics, or a related discipline. He/she should have a proven knowledge and track record in several of the following areas: graph and complexity theory, algorithms, bioinformatics, programming in C, C++, a scripting language and Matlab, using a parallel computing environment, scientific computing, data analysis, statistics and machine learning.

The successful applicant will join the faculty and participate in the department's research. Young researchers are eligible for a contract of up to 3 years and 6 months, under the standard Slovenian salary and work status.

• The average grade for all examinations and coursework at undergraduate level (excluding the degree examination), at least 80% of all examinations and coursework at undergraduate level must be completed;
• Already completed science master's degree;
• Enrolment in a postgraduate study programme for the award of academic title;
• An award or prize;
• Published articles;
• Collaboration in research work.
• The Research Organisation shall define the evaluation of criteria.
