Job description The new professor will be responsible for research into teaching and learning in designed learning environments, which include, but are not restricted to, formal primary, secondary and higher education and electronic learning environments. Scientific output will contribute to the body of empirical and theoretical scientific knowledge on teaching and learning, particularly within higher education.
The chair addresses the domain of teaching and learning in designed learning environments from the perspective of educational sciences and is able and willing to relate research outcomes with neuropsychological and pedagogical perspectives.
The chair will have academic responsibility for the master programmes Secondary Teacher Education and Teaching and Learning in Higher Education as well as for post-academic courses for teachers and lecturers offered by the OCVU (Onderwijscentrum VU). Finally, the chair is member of the management team of research institute LEARN! and maintains collaborative relationships within the context of the Dutch Research School ICO.
Tasks • Developing and conducting research projects for the Research programme; • Supervising junior researchers and PhD students; • Monitoring the scientific output of the research group; • Member of the management team of institute LEARN! with the responsibility to develop the institute’s research strategy and agenda in such a way that programme leaders are enabled to successfully run their research programmes; • Member of the management team of the department of Research and Theory in Education; • Teaching within the master programme Secondary Teacher Education, MTLHE and Ba/Ma Educational Sciences (approx 0.35 fte); • Creating a self-supporting financial budget for the programme.
• Background in behavioural sciences; • Doctor’s degree; • Excellent track record of international publications; • Proven experience in attracting external research funding and in possession of international network for acquisition; • An expert in educational research both in producing practice based evidence and developing evidence based interventions; • Excellent teacher and supervisor; • Innovative, inspiring research manager; • Team builder, excellent collaboration competences; • The candidate must have fluent command of Dutch and English; any appointee lacking this level of linguistic competence will be expected to acquire it within a period of two years.
