PhD position in molecular electronics, University of Basel, Switzerland
The experimental Nanoelectronics group at the University of Basel, Switzerland invites applications for a PhD position in the interdisciplinary field of nanoscale and molecular electronics. The successful candidate will integrate the Marie Curie Initial Training Network "Molecular-scale electronics: Concepts, Contacts and Stability" (MOLESCO). The position is for one Early stage researcher (ESR) and is expected to start around mid-2014 The candidate will work under the supervision of PD Dr. Michel Calame. More information on the group activities can be found online at http://www.nanoelectronics.ch and http://calame.unibas.ch.
The researcher will study the electronic transport properties of molecular-scale electronic devices formed by a single or a few molecules linked between nanoscale electrodes. The project aims in particular at exploring the novel possibilities offered by graphene for molecular electronics. The MOLESCO network will offer a unique training and research environment at the European level in coordination with nine other internationally-leading research teams with expertise in molecular synthesis, nanoscale fabrication of molecular junctions and devices, scanning probe imaging, measurements of charge transport as well as electronic structure and transport calculations.
