UTWIST ³ TENURE TRACK Position at the faculty ITC
The faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente seeks outstanding female applicants for a tenure-track position. The tenure track position is open to highly talented females who hold a doctoral degree, have postdoc experience and excellent potential for a successful scientific career in the area of geo-information science and earth observation. We expect candidates to match their research interest with the focus of one of ITC’s research themes (www.itc.nl/research-themes). We would like to emphasize that ITC’s research themes are closely linked to the so called ‘Ploumen nota’ titled ‘A World to Gain’. Ms Ploumen is the Dutch Minister for foreign trade and development cooperation.
The intention of this tenure track is that, after a maximum period of six years, you enter into permanent employment as associated professor and progress further in the organization. The appointment is based on evidence of personal development rather than competitive factors. Starting level of the track is assistant professor level 2. Phase 1 in the Tenure Track, initially for 3 years.

You possess a PhD in one of the following fields: Earth science, Geography, Ecology, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Geo-informatics or computer science with relevant expertise in Geo-information and/or remote sensing. You have demonstrated scientific creativity combined with a publishing record of acknowledged quality and a strong interest in developing cost effective solutions relevant to the large variety of problems in developing countries. Preferably you have proven didactic skills and experience in teaching (University Teacher Qualification certificate ‘BKO’ or equivalent), affinity with a multi-cultural, post-graduate education environment, and experience in international consulting and advising co-operation. You are willing to undertake international travel. UT sets specific standards for the English competency of the teaching staff. UT offers training to improve English competency.

Female scientists are invited to apply for the Tenure Track position as such but within the frame of one of the ITC-research themes more specifically. It is up to the selection committee to decide to which of the six departments at ITC the candidate will be allocated.
