Description

THALES is opening a position for a three years Early Stage Researcher (ESR) fellowship within the European Union Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) INFIERI Project. The ESR will be trained in the new domain of intelligent and fast devices useful for Astrophysics, Medical and Particle physics, as well as in real-time hardware and software architecture and communication systems. The specific training-through-research program will focus on hard real-time hardware design and development taking into account the three domains (Astrophysics, Medical and Particle physics) of the project. The candidate will focus in particular on the tremendous amount of data produced by the sensors and the throughput of these data.
An initial phase of the project is to understand the application needs and to produce the specification and requirements of the hardware platform.
As a second step, the candidate will define a tool chain that allows application programmers to capture the application and that generates the best hardware platform that fits the application needs. To achieve this, the candidate will define, select, design and develop a set of configurable IPs (processors, dedicated accelerators, NoCs, Buses...) and will design and develop a set of tools to explore the design space and search for the best suitable architecture. The aim is to produce a prototype that will be tested on at least one of the three application domains.
The work will be carried out in Thales Research and Technology France. The candidate will participate to trainings, workshops and conferences organized within the INFIERI network. Secondments to partner companies are also planned.
