Please note that the job is no longer active!
Marie-Curie Postdoc position on the topic “Bose Einstein Condensation and Matter-Wave Interferometry" at the *European*-funded Institute for Electronic Structure and Lasers (IESL-FORTH) on Crete.
The research topics available range from coherence in BEC, over guided matter-wave interferometry to atom lasers and related topics partially depending on the preferences and expertise of the candidate.
The salary is about €50,000 gross plus relocation allowance.
Applications are invited for a Marie-Curie Post Doctoral position on the topic "Bose Einstein Condensation and Matter-Wave Interferometry" at the Institute for Electronic Structure and Lasers (IESL-FORTH) on Crete. The PostDoc position is part of the Marie-Curie Initial Training Network - QTea. The salary is about €50,000 gross plus relocation allowance.
The successful candidate will perform experimental research on Bose-Einstein Condensation in the Cretan Matter-Waves group of Wolf von Klitzing. Possible research topics range from coherence in BEC, over guided matter-wave interferometry to atom lasers and related topics partially depending on the preferences and expertise of the candidate.
Our research group is part of the Institute for Electronic Structure and Lasers (IESL-FORTH), which is the prime laboratory for research in experimental physics in Greece. As a *European*-funded laboratory it offers a uniquely international and interdisciplinary environment. Exchanges, e.g. through LaserLab Europe are strongly encouraged. The research may include an internship at a leading laser manufacturer. Successful candidates will take part in a network wide training program and are expected to collaborate with network partners through short term placements at industrial/academic partner institutions throughout the EU.
The applicant should fulfil the requirements for his/her PhD in experimental Physics or a related topic. Experience in cold atom physics or quantum optics is advantageous, but not essential. He/She should have a *maximum* of four years of research experience and not have lived in Greece for more than 12 months in the last three years.
Applicants should send their CV (including a letter of motivation and the names of two or more referees) to firstname.lastname@example.org. The position is available from March 1st, 2015 and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Applications from female researchers are strongly encouraged.
