3 year training program in CO2 storage to significantly advance understanding
of the fate and consequences of CO2 following its injection into the subsurface during carbon storage efforts.

Description

CO2-REACT consists of 13 distinct ESR projects and one ER project. The ER will be domiciled with CO2-REACT LaFarge Cement and expected to spend significant time working with CNRS-TOULOUSE as secondment host. Major job responsibilities include performing state-of-the-art research in the subject area of the incorporation of improved thermodynamics and kinetics models in state-of-the-art reactive transport models. The successful candidate will revaluate existing thermodynamic data for reactions expected in the subsurface as well as those useful for limiting CO2 emissions from cement production. S(he) will work together with secondment hosts to upgrade computer codes describing the kinetics of fluid-mineral interaction, taking advantage of results obtained from other CO2-REACT partners.
Additional job responsibilities include participation at CO2-REACT short courses, management meetings, and network meetings, communicating the results of each research project to other CO2-REACT members, to the international scientific community, and to the general public as part of public outreach activities. Results of each research projects are to be written up for publication in internationally distributed scientific journals.
This ER will be expected to play a leadership role in the CO2-REACT ITN, which will consist of 13 ESR performing associated research on the fate of CO2 after its injection into the subsurface.
