Early Stage Researcher position for 17 months
Self-healing composite materials
ESR position - Self-healing composite materials.
The Soft Matter and Chemistry Laboratory MMC is a joint research unit between CNRS and the Ecole Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles in Paris. The laboratory covers a broad spectrum of expertise in physics, chemistry and materials science, including in particular the synthesis of new molecules, characterization, structural and dynamic studies, understanding and modeling of physical and mechanical properties.
Working closely with industry, our ambition is to invent materials with new properties or unusual combinations of properties and also to ensure their synthesis and scale-up by methods both economically feasible and environmentally friendly.
In this domain, our laboratory is renowned for major results including recently discovered self-healing supramolecular rubbers based on natural fatty acid.
In this new project, the goal is the realization of composite materials that can combine multiple self-healing mechanisms and hence able to offer a better fatigue and chemical resistance, improved fibre adhesion and extensive damage repair.
This position is aimed to be a research training. It may constitute a part of a PhD thesis at University of Paris VI or another university.
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements and hold a master's degree in materials chemistry or physical chemistry of polymers.
This position lasts for 17 months starting preferably at the beginning of 2014.
Applicants should send a CV and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org
