The researcher will develop optimization methodologies and software tools to be adopted by an energy router for controlling energy exchanges among the devices directly connected to the energy router (small generation units, storage, loads, etc.) or with other energy routers. The optimal of energy exchanges will be based on load and generation forecasts and, therefore, will require the solution of non linear dynamic optimization problems, in the presence of network constraints. Moreover, the development of methodologies for optimizing the exchanges among energy routers will require the solution of complex combinatorial problems in the presence of network constraints and continuous and integer control variables (typically a mixed-integer non linear problem).
