Molecular bases of amyloidogenic proteins aggregation

Please note that the job is no longer active!

The principal aims of this research project are as follows:

1. Characterization of anatomical, biological and physical-chemical factors responsible for the tissue specificity of amyloid deposition in systemic amyloidosis.

2. Elucidation of the mechanism by which natural extracellular chaperones and other tissue components can modulate the amyloid formation in vivo. Preliminary data obtained with the first natural amyloidogenic variant of β2-

microglobulin (D76N) show that amyloid

fibrillogenesis is strongly enhanced by

hydrophobic surfaces, including ubiquitous

constituents of the extracellular matrix in the interstitial space, such as elastin and

proteoglycans. In contrast, known extracellular chaperone proteins can potently inhibit fibril formation. This research project intend to determine how these opposite effects can modulate amyloid deposition in vivo.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
