herpes viruses and alzheimer's disease

Please note that the job is no longer active!

This project will be focused on the study of the association between herpes virus and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). In particular, herpes virus presence (or absence) will be evaluated in brain tissue from AD patients and control from the Nedherland Brain Bank. RNA samples are available in Proponent lab. RT PCR and classical PCR will be used to analyze the virus positivity; in particular latent mRNA will be analyzed for HSV-1, EBV and HHV-6 virus in two different cerebral areas. This approach is very complex and for this reason appropriate and specific primers and probes will be performed. In particular, we will analyze LAT gene for HSV-1, IE1 And 2 for HHV-6 and LMP2 and EBNA1 for EBV. This study will allow to better understand if the presence of these virus in brain could be associated with AD.

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
