Marie Curie Action COFUND 'EPFL Fellows' co-funded by Marie-Curie - Postdoctoral Fellowships at EPFL

EPFL’s international postdoctoral fellowship programme aims to attract experienced researchers of any nationality to the EPFL, to provide them with state-of-the art conditions for research, to develop their leadership potential and to position them for success as future research leaders through a research-intensive training. EPFL Fellows runs under the Marie Curie Action COFUND (7th Framework programme).

Research Fields


Eligibility criteria

Applicants must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
1. Citizens of any nationality may apply.
2. Applicants must have a PhD degree or have at least four (4) years of full-time equivalent research experience.
3. Incoming or re-integration criteria :
(incoming) Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the three (3) years immediately prior to their application.
(re-integration) Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the three (3) years immediately prior to their application, and show at least three (3) years’ experience in research at the postdoctoral level in Other Third Countries, by the time they submit the application.
4. Up to max. five (5) years after PhD.
5. Applicants must have arranged a research plan with a host laboratory at the EPFL in advance.

There are no restrictions concerning the age, gender or nationality of the candidates. Candidates with career breaks or variations in the chronological sequence of their career steps are welcome. These candidates are encouraged to submit evidence-based CVs, reflecting a representative array of achievements and qualifications appropriate to the EPFL Fellows programme.

Exceptions to the above rules are possible for women, in particular in case of maternity leave, as EPFL has adopted a clear policy of equal opportunities for men and women.

Selection process

The selection procedure for EPFL Fellows consists of two phases. In the first phase, the EPFL Research Commission makes an initial selection based on an international peer review process. Candidates selected for the second phase are then invited for an interview. Successful candidates are offered a 24-month fellowship.
