The obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is one of the major cause of road accidents. Such disorder is characterized by the presence of recurrent apnea during sleep which generates episodes of hypoxemia and sleep pattern interruption, with consequent EDS and reduced cognitive performance. The objective of the study is to identify and quantify cognitive deficits and their reversibility in OSAS patients after ventilotherapy (CPAP), to quantify road accidents frequency and severity comparing healthy volunteers and OSAS patients. The protocol includes: neuropsychological tests, investigation on medical history and on frequency of accidents, the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. The protocol will be repeated at 7 and 42 days of therapy in the group of patients. We will assess the prevalence of sleep disorders in a population of professional drivers. The study aims to reduce the risk of road accidents in conditions of EDS secondary to sleep disorder
