Development of cloud-computing based computing techniques for data analysis within the ALICE experiment.

The calculation model adopted by high energy physics experiments is based on the Grid system. The system allows the processing of large amounts of data in batch mode. A limit of this approach comes from the fact that an interactive job processing is not possible. This limit can be overcome developing a system for interactive and parallel analysis on virtual clusters. Such a system would allow a fast processing of data subsamples for code development and test and for the study of several experimental configurations. The person selected for the contract will develop code and scripts necessary for the application of the facility to the data analysis of the ALICE experiment, which uses the CERN LHC for relativistic heavy ion physics studies.
