The role of visual attention in communicative disorders: early predictors of atypical development in high- and low-risk infants

Please note that the job is no longer active!

Many infants are at increased risk for communicative impairments which refer to problems in interacting with other people, language and reading. Typically communicative disorders are diagnosed at preschool or school age, long after the presumed pathogenic process has occurred. Given the vulnerability of selective attention skills and their relevance for communicative processes, a solid understanding of early attentional skills in infancy becomes crucial for early identification and intervention for these developmental communicative disorders. The aim of the project will be to compare attentional skills exhibited by 6-8 month-old infants with low- or high-risk for later diagnosis of communicative disorders by virtue of having a familial predisposition. Successively, infants will be retested at 18-20 months of age using standardized clinical tasks in order to evaluate their communication and language skills, as well as early predictors of future reading abilities

Please note that the full description may be available in the national language since some job boards have their own publication policy. Thank you for your understanding!
